Go bare-bone stock Android 4.1 on the Facebook phone with this guide

The HTC First is an awesome mid-range smartphone. Sporting a 720p HD display, a dual-core CPU, and a great design, the simply rocks it. The HTC First also sports the all-new Facebook Home - Facebook's new and awesome home replacement app.

For those in the dark here, the HTC First was announced a few weeks ago by Facebook, HTC, and AT&T. The device will cost just $99 and is launching tomorrow on Ma Bell. Anyway, while Facebok Home is great, quite a few users out there love stock Android. Luckily, Facebook has made switching to stock easy as the device is basically stock.

So, just how do you get rid of Facebook Home and enable the stock Android 4.1 experience? There are two easy ways and we'll show you both! Read on for the full breakdown.
  1. Wake your HTC One
  2. Tap on Settings.
  3. Tap on App, then Manage apps.
  4. Swipe over to all and scroll down until you find Facebook Home.
  5. Tap on Facebook Home and scroll down.
  6. Now select the Clear Defaults button.
  7. Press the home button select the Android launcher.
  8. You will now have the stock Android experience! Congrats.

For an additional way to get stock Android on your HTC First, follow this second guide!

  1. Wake your HTC One
  2. Tap on Facebook Settings.
  3. Slide the switch to turn off Facebook Home.
  4. Enjoy wonderful stock Android 4.1!
